Equal Opportunities are the right of any child or adult.
We aim to implement this in our nursery by giving recognition to and developing all the different abilities a person may have.
All our children will be given the opportunity to take part in all of the activities we offer.
At Starfish we respect, accept and cater for different cultures. Examples of this are by tailoring our menu to accommodate children's religious food beliefs.
Racism and sexism are not inevitable or innate and positive strategies of action are necessary for a non-discriminatory society in the future.
We provide translations of our Policies and Procedures if required. We will also provide copies of information leaflets in our reception for parents who do not speak English as their first language.
Each Starfish nursery has an Equal Opportunities Representative. Their role is to assess whether the nursery is meeting it's criteria for implementing Equal Opportunity They will advise on equipment and teaching methods and will attend regular training to make sure they are keeping up to date with current legislation and thinking.
It is up to us as parents/carers of young children to implement these strategies and provide positive role models.
Our named Equal Opportunities Representative at Starfish Children's Day Nursery is Sarah Little.
